We call our babies bundles joy, and indeed they bring about much happiness to everyone in the family. But we also cannot deny that having a baby brings about more troubles to our lives too. On top of having to adjust to new routines and making sacrifices, we probably also have to worry more about financial issues. After all, it's not cheap raising a child these days. Not to mention having to support the child financially for possibly 20-25 years until they complete their tertiary education.
Through all my troubles and fears, I've learnt to count my blessings daily. I give thanks for each milestone that my baby attains, for each new type of food that he eats and enjoys without allergic reaction, for each time he recovers well from an injury, and for the near-misses when angels seems to have been present to stop him from suffering severe falls.
From the day your baby was conceived in your womb, many things could have gone wrong, but didn't. As much as our babies are tough, they are also vulnerable to many viruses and diseases.
Because if you seriously think about it, there could always have been a worse scenario than the one you are dealing with.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. - James 1:2-4
