Dress Up and Feel Great

#42 of 100 Days of Wisdom and Encouragement for the New Mom

I don't know about you, but I tend to feel much better about myself when I'm well dressed and made up. The focus here is not to doll up to draw attention from the people around you, or so that you can pose a pretty selfie on social media. You can still do that, of course. But the main point is to dress up in such a way that makes you feel good about yourself - more confident and self-assured.

I get very upset when I stink of breast milk, and feel totally unglamorous in my mummy PJs and messed up hair. That, on top of fatigue and a messy house, really brings me down. So I do my best to dress up! Put on a bright and comfortable blouse with flattering jeans, neaten up my hair, fill up my brows. Just a simple do-up but when I look into the mirror, I look more pleasant, feel more confident, and more psyched up to deal with all the shit that baby brings, literally.

Nobody said you can't dress up even if you don't intend to step out of the house. It's all about making you feel better about yourself. Furthermore, it's a great bonus for your Husband when he comes home to see you looking fresh and nicely dressed -- baby well taken care of, and Wife looking awesome; what more can he ask for!

When you set off the day feeling awesome about yourself, your day will certainly go better too!

Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. - 1 Peter 3:3-4
