Sentosa is a good place for a staycation for a beach holiday, with lots of entertainment options in the vicinity, such as the SEA aquarium and Universal Studios.
But the truth is, all these will cost you a couple of hundred or even over a thousand dollars just staying in Singapore.
If your ideal getaway is to have a change of scenery, with a beautiful view of the sea, and bask in the sun within your own private pool, with very affordable spa services and non-stop entertainment for your children, go to Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson this coming holiday!
Both my husband and I think that having a private pool in our villa was the best part of the trip. We believe it is the formula for our relaxing vacation because the kids get to swim any time they want, without jostling with the other children.
We can sit by the pool and watch them play, and still enjoy the sea view. If the 4m by 3m private pool doesn't satisfy you, there are two more common pools at the main tower.
There is also an outdoor playground at the main tower which I find rather challenging for my 3 year old. If you are willing to spend some money, you can also send your children to the indoor playground at the main tower while you pop over to the spa next door!
To be honest, the beach isn't very big, largely because a huge part of it is taken up by beach and water sports activities which you can enjoy at a small fee.
My 5yo was really excited to finally get to the beach because he's been asking for that since he received some beach toys!
Apart from building sandcastles at the beach, my 5yo also had fun playing in the inflatable pools and slide.
For RM22, your child can play at 2 inflatable pools and 1 inflatable slide for 20 minutes. Top up RM10 to increase your playtime to 40 minutes.
I only paid for 20 minutes but we were the only ones there and thankfully, the staff was not strict with us on the timing. My 5yo ended up playing for almost 40 minutes!

One inflatable pool where my 5yo got to sit in a small rowboat and maneuvered it himself by turning the wheels by the side.
He had fun experimenting with how to control the boat's direction, like a little scientist at work.
The other inflatable pool had huge inflatable animals in it where the children can climb on and ride or just laze in the pool.
This is the huge inflatable slide for adults. I wasn't brave enough to try. I just wanted to relax on my beach chair and use the free wifi to surf the internet. =P
The children's slide is much smaller but very, very slippery! My 5yo had quite a scare the first time he took the slide because he went down much faster than expected.
Even then, he kept going on for a few more rounds!
This is one of my favorite photos taken during the trip. My daughter was so happy to be able to carry her brother's bag to walk around after the brother fell asleep while having dinner.
Having fun is tiring business for the children!
